The Discipline of Believing
The difference between the average person and the high achiever is a commitment to belief—because possessing the unqualified belief that you are capable of doing something is the first step to achieving it.
Until you consistently believe in yourself, that you can face any challenge that is thrown your way by life, you may never attain the prestigious position of
high achievers. You must have the discipline to believe that you can attain the result that you seek and this is done by visualization and meditation on your desired goal.
I like the way Will Smith put it: “There’s a redemptive power that making a choice has. Decide what you’re going to be, who you are going to be and then how you are going to do
it. From that point on, the universe is going to get out of your way.”
I am constantly reminded by an event that took place in Warri, Delta State. I told a friend of mine that I wanted to lend my consultancy service to a college in Warri to help coach students who are struggling with their grades, I haven't finish mentioning the name of the college to my friend, when he blotted out that "the director of that college would not see you, because I know his person, he is not interested in that kind of services". I refused to believe his submission and forged on with what I believe in. It took more time than expected but, I kept re-enforcing my belief everyday and I was given the first batch of seventy students to work with in that same college.
Having the mindset of a leader to forge on in-spite of the negative feedbacks and fears, coupled with the tenancity of disciplined belief structure gave me the needed push and drive.
If you must take something from this, it should be that "When you commit, really commit to a choice, then everything else will fall into place to make it happen for you. Your decisions will be guided by your mindset."
