Delta State, Revive Africa Initiative Tackles Drug Abuse.
Warri: Team Steven Dikko of the Revive Africa Initiative yesterday at Ugborikoko Secondary School, Warri held a one day sensitization program on Drug Abuse and Cultism.
The program was officially flagged of by the Director General of Revive Africa Initiative Mr Ugagaoghene Enarise Ogheneyole who was ably represented by the Executive Director of Delta South Senatorial District, Mr Glen O. Arigi who state's that the choice of becoming a better leader in the society starts today by conscious and deliberate efforts of present leaders who are the students and, begins with the ability to shun drug abuse and cult related
activities.
The team lead of group Steven Dikko, Mr Jenkins while addressing the topic, "Cultism" advised the students not to get involved in the act as the consequences are grievous which can lead to imprisonment and death. He said that freedom feels cheap but it's costly when one finds himself in the confines of the prison. He encouraged those who are already in one cult or the other to renounce and report themselves to their parents, school heads and possibly the police so that proper correctional measures can be taken.
Other speakers of Revive Africa Initiative which include Comrade Frank Igwe, Mr Champion and Eze Chukwuka from Steven Dikko group who spoke on "Drug Abuse, Implications and Peer group influence" admonished the students to stay away from hard drugs and medicinal drugs without doctor prescription. They also advised the students to desist from friends who take such drugs, belongs to secret confraternity's and have negative influence on their education and total wellbeing. The speakers further hint the students that to become a leader they must focus on positive attitudes which includes taking their studies serious, obeying school rules and regulations and, graduate with flying colors.
During the course of the program, some student's confides in the team of belonging to secret cult and would love to quit. The team promised to help them out of the ordeal.
The Vice Principal of the school decried the increase in cult related activities in the school and appealed to Revive Africa Initiative to bring more of such programs to the school so as to reduce the menace.
