OMG:Amnesty students begin strike at Igbinedion University

Students who are on the sponsorship of the Presidential Amnesty Programme at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, are currently staging a protest against the new management of the programme.
The students are protesting over the non-payment of four months of their allowances by the management of the programme.

Mr. Abide, a guardian to one of the student, lamented the way and manner the new coordinator of the programme has gone about it from day one. He said the students were asked to resume at various institutions at a very short notice, without financial support,
that some of them left the creeks and took vehicles, traveled several distance and paid hotel accommodation fees for several days before they were admitted and some student had to borrow money to feed and transport to their various institutions to resume.

Students and staffs of the institution, woke up this morning to see the students carrying placards and protesting against their sponsors. Although, the protest is peaceful, it was gathered that the student are protesting due to the lack of payment of their tuition and deployment to their various institutions.

The same institution witnessed a similar event that turned violent some years ago, in which a student was hacked to death.
