Review: TY Danjuma Spat Fire And The Nigeria Military Replied
8 hours ago - Nigerian military has on Sunday classified the statement credited to a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, as an unfortunate statement coming out from a highly distinguished statesman especially now the military has embarked on demilitarization of the North Central
TY Danjuma is not known to be frivolous. He is not a public commentator. He fought the civil war. He has access. He is wealthy.
When old men like him speak, we should listen. We do not have to agree, but we must listen and ask questions. What does he know that we do not?
Accusing, an army he led meritoriously of being partial, is a grave accusation. Certainly, if he were not the calibre of man he is, he might have been arrested. What does he know? What is he worried about? Why did he choose to speak publicly?
These are questions I would love answers on. I might not agree, though, it seems common sense for anyone to defend themselves. The law, permits self defence anyway.
Interesting times we live in. When the trio of Obasanjo, Babangida and Danjuma unite on an issue, only the foolish will casually dismiss them. That they are unhappy they do not have access to money, state funds again? Stop that joke! Think of something more credible and smart.
No one can ignore the rise in attacks and deaths. No one should. A State has one accepted definition: monopoly of violence. Right now, we have many States.
It is cause for worry!!!!
