 The Community Girl Project (The Community Girl Project) 
I have started already. I started 19th March 2016. 
The Community Girl Project was birthed as a result of the burden we have for the young girls in our society. It is known that the girl child is at risk to many social vices of the society that leads to long term consequences resulting in a failed society. One of such vices results in teenage pregnancy with children becoming mothers in our communities. We realized the girls get pregnant due to lack of self-awareness, inadequate education, poor knowledge
about sex and inefficient usage of contraceptives. These have also led to spread of sexually transmitted diseases amongst our teenagers.

HOW DO WE CHANGE THAT?We created a platform in March 2016 for young girls between the ages of 11 to 25 years, to equip them with positive tools and empower them in areas such as education, environment, health, science and technology, sports, leadership skills, life skills, public speaking, etiquette and skill acquisition.
This will enable them value themselves and become valuable to the society, and in many ways reduce the various challenges young girls tend to face as they journey through life. In the last 15 months, as the project progressed, we have seen tremendous improvement from the community girls.

LONG TERM GOALS:It is our dream to have a community girl hub that would serve as a skill acquisition centre, a library, a counselling unit, a rejuvenation centre and a meeting place for young girls. Project called #ActontheGo .  #ActontheGo We had the girls last year pick any waste product such as cartons, food, plastic bottles, old clothes and use them for recycling. It was a project that ran from August- December 2016, each team had a leader and a journalist who documented biweekly the progress of the team. In addition to this eco-initiative, we had a picnic to showcase the talents of the young girls; likewise we also had creative writing competition, debate and spelling bee. Another project we have done is the Career Month, held August 2016. We invited people from various profession to enlighten the girls about their career from the challenges of gaining admission into a University, to make another career choice and the challenges of employment. We had lawyers, doctors, entertainer, makeup artist, plumber, teacher just to mention a few. 8. We have spent approximately 300-400 thousand Naira since last year. 9. No we have not received any funding. 10. We would use it to support our upcoming event for July 2017.
