Last week,  Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing called out the National Assembly for cutting the budget meant for his ministry to carry out its duties. In response, Abdulrazaq Namdas spokesman of the House of Representatives,  on Thursday  said Fashola should be bold and sincere enough to tell Nigerians why his ministry inserted N20 billion for miscellaneous expenditure while the second Niger Bridge had N12 billion estimate.

A 22-year-old man, James Saltmarshal, who had been accused of sexually assaulting and murdering his 8-month-old daughter, has finally been cleared of the charges after an error was discovered in forensic testing. Back in April, police officers were called to a hotel room where Saltmarshall says his daughter, Janiyah had stopped breathing. He was arrested and charged to court after she later died at the hospital and the medical examiner reported finding trauma to the baby's head, and rectal tearing.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has expressed concern over the reaction of the National Assembly to his observations on the 2017 Budget as passed the legislature. Fashola had in a recent interview, complained that the legislators had in approving the budget, reduced funds for some key projects of his ministry and allocated the money to some frivolous ones. He had disagreed with the practice where the legislature unilaterally altered the budget after putting members of the Executive through budget defence sessions and committee hearings.
