Police parade cultists, kidnappers who lure their victim by pretending to be lesbians, and other criminals
Police in Rivers state on Tuesday paraded criminals arrested for crimes ranging from kidnap to armed robbery and cultism. In a press statement, it was revealed that suspects were apprehended following a mandate from IGP Ibrahim K. Idris ordering the IGP Monitoring Unit to bring to book the criminals constituting a menace in Rivers state.
It was revealed that two of the men paraded kidnapped their landlady and her son. Ifeanyi Ezechukwu, 28, and Chinedu Amadi, 18, were arrested on the 23rd of March during a raid at Umuanwa community, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers state.
Their landlady and her son were rescued by police during the raid. The suspects kidnapped the landlady with the hopes of extracting money from her to enable them pay their rent of N70,000. A ransom of N200,000 had already been paid before police arrested them.
Prior to that, operatives of IGP Monitoring Unit raided a kidnappers hideout at Umuike, Aluu ares of Rivers state and arrested two suspects who lure their victims who are mostly lesbians by pretending to be lesbian lovers in search of love interests online. A student of Federal University of Technology Owerri was rescued from their hideout.
