Awards: Itsekiri Champions Award ICA 2016 ...Voting Is Still Ongoing...!

Itsekiri Champions Award is designed to encourage positivity in both cyber and terrestrial spheres of our national endeavors. It seeks to identify, recognize and celebrate sons and daughters, businesses and civil society organizations (CSOs) to deepen their good work.

The Award seeks to identify, the target categories of persons and organizations for reward and celebration with a view to encouraging more people to imbibe these good acts.

BACKGROUND:

The Itsekiris today live in a spaces (Both cyber and terrestrial) that have been deeply mired in violence, acrimony, mutual distrust, lack of support for the less privileged just to mention

but a few. Multiple drivers of conflict interact to prolong unrest, including the use of violence by politicians and community leaders, neglect of local economies, corruption and internal divisions over the allocation of benefits and entitlements. Conflict in Itsekiri has been framed in terms of the ongoing struggle amongst political elites and community leaders over control of resources. Communities have been largely bypassed by these sets of actors, leaving hope for development distant.

There are uncelebrated and yet undaunted persons and organizations making frantic efforts at lighting candles in this dark atmosphere. Whilst some of these efforts have the potential to create pockets of hope in the nation, they have few opportunities to share experiences and leverage relationships with others pursuing the same goals. There is an opportunity to build upon the shared interests and growing recognition for the development of Warri Kingdom by identifying and encouraging these efforts. Pursuant to this initiative, the Foundation for Development and Community Engagement (FDCE) in conjunction with the Itsekiri Advancement and Heritage Group cordially requests the votes of the general public for the Itsekiri Champions Award 2016 in the following categories:

Voting is still on till 29th December 2016 midnight ....!
