I Asked to be Executed - Man Who Spent 22 Years on Death Row Narrates His Horrific Experience in Prison

'I asked to be executed'...a father-of-four who spent 22 years on death row, has described the moment he begged to die after being wrongly convicted of r*pe and murder.

The dad-of-four appeared on This Morning to promote his book Seven Days to Live

A 55-year old man identified as Nick Yarris, who was wrongly convicted of r*pe and murder of a woman in his native Pennsylvania in 1982 and spent 22 years on death row, broke down in tears as he spoke about suffering from hepatitis while in prison.

According to Dailymail, during his time behind bars, he was diagnosed with the illness, which he said he was desperate not to die from: 'I decided I didn't want to die like that, so I asked to be executed. I didn't do the crime.

'But I loved myself enough to figure that I wasn't going to die like that and the judge instead ordered DNA testing and I pushed myself in every way that I could to not be hurt by that to somehow be a loving person, to find anything good within myself to not let myself go.

'I am very grateful that I got a chance to Random House publishers so that I could share my book Fear of 13. I want to use that to power over me.'

Now a free man married man Nick lives in Yeovil in Somerset with his wife Jessica Louise Stubley, but said that his 12 years of freedom have been harder than the 22 years he spent imprisoned.
