Vice-president Ed Woodward is keen not to let Louis van Gaal's tactical knowledge slip, and wants to keep him on until the end of his contract
Louis van Gaal is reportedly no longer in contact with new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho as reports suggest he feels betrayed by both the Portuguese and club.
The 64-year-old was sacked by the Red Devils despite winning the FA Cup in his final game, with an unattractive style of football and the failure to secure Champions
Leaguequalification proving his downfall.
However, Van Gaal is said to have been extremely disappointed by United's decision not to let him see out his three-year contract, and even more so by the actions of Mourinho which he considers a personal affront.

The pair had a close relationship which began during van Gaal's first tenure as Barcelona coach in the late 1990s. The Dutchman appointed Mourinho as his assistant, and the self-proclaimed Special One has often cited the influence of van Gaal on his own coaching career.
Now that relationship looks to be a thing of the past, with The Sun reporting that van Gaal believes he has been stabbed in the back by his former pupil.
The article also reports that van Gaal grew suspicious when the text messages he and Mourinho used to exchange with regularity stopped during the second half of the season, as did those with United vice-president Ed Woodward.
"[Their] friendship is no more," a source close to the situation told The Sun. "[Van Gaal] had heard everything during the season but the fact remained he was still manager and then won the prize of the FA Cup.
"Maybe his own personality meant he didn’t believe it, yet at Wembley he still didn’t have any official word about his future.
"It was only when he got a text from United boss Ed Woodward on Sunday afternoon, asking for talks as the United train was approaching Stockport, that he knew it was over."
Despite the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach maintaining on numerous occasions that he would retire after his time at Old Trafford in order to spend more time with his wife Truus, the report states that he is not ready to bid adieu to football just yet
