I haven't spoken to Maradona since the 2010 World Cup' - Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to his idol and mentor, Diego Maradona since the 2010 World Cup when the Argentina national team crashed out of the World Cup at the quarter finals after being beaten by Germany.
The two men are considered to be all-time greats and you could make a case for either one being the very best of all time, but things didn't work out well for both as they didn't perform to expectations at the 2010 World Cup when Diego Maradona was the Argentina football team head coach and Messi was seen as the man to lead the team to World Cup glory.
Speaking on Egyptian TV, Messi said:

“We haven’t spoken in a long time, since the World Cup [2010] we may have crossed paths once or twice. He has his life, his things and I have mine. We haven’t spoken at all. Considering that we don’t speak to each other, I have a great relationship with him.”
