Petroleum Tanker drivers call off their strike action

The strike action of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers has been called off. The strike action which kicked off this morning, was called off following a meeting between the leadership of the association and the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja.

Group Managing Director of NNPC, Maikanti Baru, announced to the tanker drivers that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has approved an increase of tanker drivers’ bridging allowance from 6.20 Naira to 7.20 Naira. The tanker drivers called for a strike action to press home their demand for improved welfare.
