Authorities of the National Agency For Food and Drug Administration NAFDAC, yesterday addressed a joint press conference with officials of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS, where the final result on tests carried out on the "Plastic Rice" seized by some Customs officers in Lagos(read here), was released. According to the acting Director General of NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni, the bags of rice seized were not plastic rice but rice contaminated by microorganisms. 28-year-old, Eman Salehi, was shot dead in front of her 6-year-old son by a military man believed to be a member of Bahrain's Sunni royal family. Salehi, who is a sports journalist for Bahrain's state run television was out with her son that night when her car was stopped in Bahrain city of Riffa, an area that is popular with military and with members of the ruling Al Khalifa family.

A second republic senator, Muktar Abdulkarim, was crushed to death by a truck allegedly belonging to Dangote Group Plc along the Kano-Zamfara expressway on Friday December 28th. According to Sahara Reporters, the Senator's brother, Buhari Abdulkarim, an architect, and his driver were injured in the accident and are currently receiving medical attention at Uthman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto.

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has approved the payment of N140m severance package due to former dead and living elected-public-office holders at the local government level in the state. According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said the beneficiaries of the severance include former chairmen of local governments, council secretaries, councilors as well council advisers elected into office in 1999, 2006 and 2008‎.

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has appointed Yakubu Nkeki, the Chairman of an association of the Chibok schoolgirls' Parents as councillor of Mbalala ward in Chibok local government area. The governor made the announcement  on Monday , being Boxing Day, while hosting the 21 rescued Chibok schoolgirls at a government house in Chibok town, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents at a Government Secondary School on April 14, 2014, after a night attack. The girls presented a gift of medium size photo frame with a bold 'THANK YOU' printed on it. ‎The frame has pictures the Governor took with the girls when he visited them in Abuja months back. The frame also has individual pictures of each of the 21 girls.

Tristan Thompson who just became a father when his ex girlfriend, Jordan Craig gave birth to their son on Dec. 12th in LA isn't named on his new son's birth certificate. On the birth certificate obtained by TMZ, Jordan lists herself as the mother but the space for the other parent (father) was left blank.  Even though she didn't list Tristan as the father of her baby, their son, Prince, has the last name Thompson. The reason she didn't name Tristan as the father of their son is because in California, the father has to be present at the hospital in order to be named on the initial birth certificate.
