The remains of Olutimeyin of Warri, Chief Emmanuel Oritsema Jones who passed on in the early hours of Monday August 22 after participating in his family’s morning devotion, will be interred on Friday October 7 at his Ubeji home in Warri South Local Government Area, Warri, Delta State, information from close family source have revealed.
According to a programme just released by the family, the funeral arrangement which will commence Thursday October 6 with a Service of Songs at his private residence, Chief Jones Compound, Isaiah Road end, Ubeji, Warri, will be rounded off with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday October 9 at Christ African Church, Odion Road, Warri.
Meanwhile, members of Committee of Friends, Ugbori, Warri, a social club which began three decades ago with the encouragement of late Chief Emmanuel Jones, who was Chairman of the body before his transition, have described the retired SPDC Staff and late Itsekiri Chief as a man who “had a way of diffusing tension and making even the most complicated issues or problems look ordinary.”
In a statement signed by Secretary, Committee of Friends, Ugbori, Hon. Tosan Hamilton Committee of Friends Ugbori averred that the late Chief Jones “would be remembered as a single and dynamic Chairman, committed to the principles on which the Committee of Friends was founded.”
While stating that the late 75-year old Chief “did not use his age and status to despise any member,” Committee of Friends, Ugbori lamented, “how else could anyone explain the sudden death of a man who woke up, overtly healthy, participated in his family’s morning devotion to the glory of his Creator- a Creator that he so cherished and served diligently in his life-time, prepares himself for the day’s engagements, only a while later, to be sent to the morgue?”
